What is CBD?
Cannabidiol (CBD) is a non-intoxicating, non-psychoactive compound from the cannabis sativa plant. It interacts with the body's endocannabinoid system – a series of receptors that regulate pain, mood, memory, appetite, stress and the immune system.
Methods of Administration
There are a variety of methods and forms available to administer CBD.
Inhalation–through vaporization–is the fastest-acting method of administration. Pharmacological effects occur within 5-20 minutes of inhalation.
Peak effect: 15-30 minutes
Duration: 2-3 hours
Oral administration is one of the strongest delivery methods out there because CBD is metabolized by the liver, making it more bioaccessible.
Peak effect: 2-6 hours
Duration: 4-12 hours
Topical forms are typically used as creams or lotions to treat localized pain and discomfort, delivering active ingredients to the bloodstream through the skin.
Peak effect: 1 hour
Duration: 3-4 hours
Sublingual forms are administered under the tongue and may be faster acting as the CBD is absorbed into the blood through the mucosal membrane in the mouth.
Peak effect: 15 minutes
Duration: 6-8 hours
There are over 70 different cannabinoids present in cannabis. Most all cannabinoids, particularly CBD, are believed to have therapeutic effects.
Among other effects, cannabinoids have been reported to suppress pain and nausea while stimulating appetite, euphoria or calmness. While none of our products contain THC, some of the most prevalent cannabinoids present in Curaleaf Hemp products include: CBD, CBN and CBC among others.

We avoid the use of hydrocarbons solvents in all processing and use only the highest quality ingredients.
Hemp is a safe, legal, and non-hallucinogenic fiber of the cannabis plant, which is often used to make clothing, rope, and paper, but can also be used for its seeds and therapeutic oil. Hemp is rich in CBD and contains less than .03% THC. At CuraleafHemp, we’re so dedicated to using only hemp in the production of our products we named our company after it.
CBD is the largest compound occurring in hemp. While more testing is needed to verify its medicinal and therapeutic properties, the groundswell of support from satisfied customers is growing at an exponential rate. All of our CBD products are made with naturally extracted CBD oil sourced right here in the U.S. (Please note: CBD is safe, legal, and does not contain THC.)
Cannabis is a genus of flowering plants. There are many different varieties of plants within this genus – the two main ones being marijuana and hemp.
In marijuana, the main active drug component is THC (tetrahydrocannabinol), a psychoactive substance that produces the “high” that resulted in all types of cannabis being classified as controlled substances and banned.
In hemp, the main active drug component is CBD (cannabidiol), a non-psychoactive substance that has been incorrectly classified with THC for decades resulting in considerable confusion.
THC is the chemical compound extracted from cannabis and commonly associated with producing a psychoactive effect. But don’t worry, Curaleaf products come from hemp only, and do not contain THC.
Terpenes are the aromatic oils found within the different varieties of cannabis plants. At CuraleafHemp, we combine terpenes with essential oils to support five different mood states: relieve, digest, uplift, relax and revive.
